As the 41st Teachers' Day is approaching, Huaihua Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government held a commendation conference to celebrate the occasion on the morning of September 9.
Xu Zhongjian, secretary of the Huaihua Municipal Party Committee, met the honored teachers, educational workers, and representatives of advanced collectives in teacher respect and education promotion. On behalf of the Huaihua Municipal Party Committee and the Huaihua Municipal Government, he extended festive greetings and high respect to all teachers and educators across the city.
Xu stressed that we should thoroughly study and implement general secretary Xi Jinping's important expositions on education, fulfill the fundamental mission of fostering virtue through education, make every effort to ensure education that satisfies the people, thus accelerating the development of a regional education center and promoting the high-quality development of education. In this way, we can draw upon our wisdom and strength to anchor the beautiful blueprint of "Three Highs and Four News" and further implement the strategy of "Five News and Four Cities".

Xu pointed out that over the past year, all departments at all levels across Huaihua, as well as the education system, have thoroughly studied and carried out general secretary Xi Jinping's important expositions on education. We have fully implemented the Party's educational policy, fulfilled the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, and reinforced reform and innovation. As a result, the foundation of education has been further consolidated, the quality of education significantly improved, and the vitality of education continuously enhanced.
Xu accentuated that the vast number of teachers and education workers in the city should adhere to the original aspiration and mission of nurturing talents for the Party and the country, hold firm beliefs and have a broad mind. They should persistently cultivate students with firm ideals and convictions under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, and accordingly act as guides for students in their pursuit of contributing to the motherland. In addition, they should establish the scholarship with virtue and impart knowledge with virtue, cultivate noble moral sentiments, strengthen self-cultivation, enhance the quality of their character so as to help guide students to foster outlooks on the world, life and values as well. They should pursue learning rigorously, engage in scholarly research with dedication, consolidate their theoretical foundation, and improve their knowledge system, broaden their horizons, thus enhancing their teaching capabilities, and better helping students gain knowledge, attain insights, and achieve success in their studies.
Xu called on the teachers and educators to be caring and loving. In so doing they could possibly dedicate themselves wholeheartedly to the cause of education through inspiring and encouraging the students with selflessness and great love.
Xu also emphasized that all sectors should jointly take on the responsibility of improving the education quality. In particular, we will effectively strengthen support for education, build a strong teaching staff, sincerely care for teachers, and tell good educational stories. By making concerted efforts to promote the high-quality development of the education cause, we will effectively make respecting teachers and valuing education a common practice locally.
At the meeting, the commendation decision issued by the Huaihua Municipal Party Committee and the Huaihua Municipal Government was announced; meanwhile, experience-sharing was conducted by representatives including Tang Xuwei (representative of model educators), Liao Wenwen (representative of renowned teachers), Huang Xi (representative of distinguished school principals), and relevant representatives from Jingzhou Miao and Dong Autonomous County.
Representatives from groups including the commended model educators, distinguished teachers, distinguished school principals, repute head teachers, distinguished teaching researchers of Huaihua City, and Huaihua City's advanced collectives for respecting teachers and valuing education, attended the meeting.
Municipal leaders Li Weilin, Yin Peiguo, Zheng Xiaohu, Wu Hanming, Xiang Rulian, and Li Ruqing attended the meeting, together with the presidents of the local universities and member units of the Huaihua Municipal Party Committee's Education Work Leading Group, as well as the secretaries of county-level and district-level Party committees and the principal heads of county-level and district-level Education Bureaus.
